(headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo, President & CEO: Ken Miyauchi, hereinafter “SoftBank”) are pleased to announce the introduction of “ENERTALK,” “Amazon Echo” and “Smart Home Appliance Controller RS-WFIREX3” in all households of the new condominiums Yokohama MID Base Tower Residence (Location: 6-143 Hanasaki-cho, Nishi-ku, Yokohama-shi, Kanagawa). “ENERTALK” is a platform service that utilizes real-time analysis of energy data provided by ENCORED. A smart speaker “Amazon Echo” can be useful in a various way of daily life. Just talk to it, and it can read out news, schedules, or even electricity bill information from ENERTALK. A Wi-Fi learning remote controller “Smart Home Appliance Controller RS-WFIREX3” allows you to control your home appliances, such as TV and air conditioners, with your voice.

In response to the introduction of ENERTALK and the launch of the Amazon Echo in Japan (announced in the press release on November 8, 2017), in order to propose new sustainable homes and lifestyles that can contribute to the environment in the next generation, all households of the Yokohama MID Base Tower Residence will be the first to be equipped with IoT devices utilizing AI and big data, and Amazon Echo and the Smart Home Appliance Controller will be installed following the property is handed over starting in next January.

Equipped with ENERTALK and Amazon Echo that continue to evolve with software updates, the households of Yokohama MID Base Tower Residence will be able to operate a variety of smart home appliances by voice in the future. Combining this with lifestyle patterns based on energy data such as electricity consumption, makes it possible to provide each resident with information that leads to a more comfortable lifestyle.

The introduction of ENERTALK and Amazon Echo into all households is an innovative effort that utilizes the latest IoT and AI, and is expected to lead to a dramatic evolution in the future housing industry in terms of monitoring and security functions that will allow people to live in peace, as well as to increase asset value. We also believe that it will play an active role as a communication tool in the community and will become a standard for condominiums and residences in the future.

ENCORED and Softbank support Yokohama City Housing Development Public Corporation’s “Lifestyle Regeneration Project”*1 in its urban revitalization of apartment complexes and condominiums, working together to study solutions to social issues using IoT, AI, and big data analysis technologies of the two companies at the Yokohama Living Lab in the URBAN DESIGN CENTER Idogaya*2 (Location: 27-1 Idogaya-shimocho, Minami-ku, Yokohama-shi, Kanagawa). ■ENERTALK – a platform service for valuable information based on electric power data

ENERTALK can estimate the electricity demand of major home appliances based on overall electric power consumption and predict household lifestyle patterns by analyzing waveforms obtained from detailed electric power data every second with its unique AI. By combining these extracted data, a variety of services can be realized, including effective electricity-saving advice, energy efficiency diagnostics for home appliances, and watching over the elderly.

■Amazon Echo – hands-free, always on call, instantly responsive

Echo is voice-controlled, can be used hands-free anytime, and always responsive. Customers can call out around the room, asking for information, music playback, news, weather and more, and Alexa (Note) will respond immediately. Echo uses remote voice recognition technology and a seven-microphone array to clearly hear voices emanating from different parts of the room. Operating by voice, it is expected to be a support tool for the physically challenged and the elderly who are less familiar with digital devices. ■“Smart Home Appliance Controller RS-WFIREX3”

“Smart Home Appliance Controller RS-WFIREX3″ is a Wi-Fi learning remote controller jointly developed by SB C&S Corp. and RATOC Systems, Inc. It connects to Amazon Echo and allows you to control your home appliances, such as TV and air conditioner, with your voice. All you have to do is say, “Alexa, turn on the air conditioner with Home Appliance Remote Control,” and you can do it from the comfort of your bed on a cold morning, or change the TV channel or volume when you have your hands full, such as while cooking.

 

 

■Yokohama MID Base – Realization of a healthy longevity society and a community-based society (Continuing Care Retirement Community)

The Yokohama MID Base was developed by Yokohama City Housing Development Public Corporation as a model project for sustainable housing to solve communal issues as we face a super-aging and declining population society. It aims to create a community where the elderly can lead healthy and active lives and also receive ongoing medical and long-term care when in need.
