Energy Platform Service ENERTALK Now Supports “Amazon Alexa”

– Just talk to it and check the electricity bill and get advice on electricity saving –

ENCORED JAPAN Inc.

ENCORED JAPAN Inc. (headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo, President & CEO: Akihiko Nakano; hereinafter “ENCORED”), a member of the SoftBank Group, today announced the launch of “ENERTALK”, an energy analysis platform service that is compatible with Amazon’s cloud-based voice service, “Amazon Alexa.”

“ENERTALK” supporting Alexa collects energy data through the dedicated electric power sensor provided by ENCORED and analyzes it in real time on the platform. By simply talking to an Amazon smart speaker “Amazon Echo” such as “Alexa, check today’s electricity bill with ENERTALK,” you can check your home’s electricity bill and usage, and communicate with it in a conversational way to be given advice on how to save electricity. The service will be available from the start of Amazon Echo shipments.

By accumulating energy data on the ENERTALK platform and analyzing the big data, we plan to provide services to support your comfortable living such as electricity-saving advice for each home appliance based on the usage of the appliances and the lifestyle patterns, while interactively communicate with “Amazon Alexa.”

■What is Alexa?

Alexa – the brain behind the Amazon Echo
Alexa, the brain behind the Amazon Echo, is built in the cloud, constantly evolving and getting smarter. Just talk to Alexa and it helps you in various ways of daily life, such as playing music, reading out news or schedules, setting timers or alarms, and checking the results of professional baseball, sumo or any other sport matches. With Echo’s remote voice control technology, you can do all of these things just by talking to Alexa anywhere in the room.

■What is Echo?

Amazon Echo – hands-free, always on call, instantly responsive
Echo is voice-controlled, can be used hands-free anytime, and always responsive. Customers can call out around the room, asking for information, music playback, news, weather and more, and Alexa will respond immediately. Echo uses remote voice recognition technology and a seven-microphone array to clearly hear voices emanating from different parts of the room. Advanced beamforming technology, which combines the signals from each microphone, suppresses noise, echoes and even speech other than voice commands. Echo’s advanced audio design adopts Dolby processing to deliver crisp vocals and dynamic bass response throughout the room, combined with a dedicated tweeter and a 2.5-inch down-firing woofer.
