    ENCORED JAPAN Inc. was launched on August 1, 2017 as a member of the SoftBank Group, with the goal of offering a new kind of energy IoT service that fuses energy, telecommunications, and the internet.
    Today, IoT businesses are being created in every kind of sector, all around the world. In the energy sector, IoT is expected to bring about advances in infrastructure and smart energy use in earnest, and IoT devices for the home are attracting a great deal of attention in Japan as well.
    At ENCORED JAPAN, we aim to use revolutionary AI technology and IoT products to create new value and new services from energy data, and to contribute to the realization of a rich future that connects people to other people and to society.

    Background

    Worked for many years in corporate planning at a major power company. 2012: Joined SoftBank Corp. (now SoftBank Group Corp.) as Assistant Manager of the Corporate Strategy Office. Currently holds concurrent positions as General Manager, Energy Business Promotion Division of SoftBank Corp., Representative Director and CEO of SB Power Corp., and President & CEO of ENCORED JAPAN Inc. Also serves as an Observer in the Electricity and Gas Market Surveillance Commission’s Specialized Meeting for Policy Design (since 2016). Graduated from the Faculty of Economics, Keio University. Holds an MBA from Australian National University and has completed the University of Tokyo Executive Management Program.

    The energy industry is in the midst of great change. As society moves toward decarbonization and the promotion of distributed energy use aimed at creating a sustainable society, the deregulation of the electricity market in recent years has made consumers increasingly sensitive to price.
    Consumer awareness of the environment and energy-saving have become part of our lives, and the uptake of solar power generation, storage batteries, EV, and other technologies is starting to accelerate.
    Further, with progress being made in ICT, centering on AI, our houses, offices, cars, factories, power stations, and all manner of infrastructure are being connected to each other through the use of IoT devices. ENCORED has partnered with SoftBank to create more convenient services amid such change and competition. We will do our best to make people’s lives better by bringing energy to the internet with innovative technologies and products born thereof and through services that leverage energy data platforms.
    As well as energy-focused smart home services, we will unite with all ENCORED employees in Japan and overseas on our journey to deliver new services, including demand response services, for the stable operation of electric power infrastructure.
